09/30/1991 – 08/05/2020

In remembrance of a wonderful, kind person who was the beloved son of Christina Shurina.

From the first time I met Gregory, he has burnt a lasting impression in my memory as being one of the most gentle, kind and considerate people I have ever met. As I left his coffee shop, I thought to myself, “What a kind, gentle person he is” and ” Why is there not more people in this world like him?”. “This world would have been a much better place with more people like him in it”. That was the kind of person Greg was and he will be missed by many!

Gregory Joseph Shurina died on August 5th 2020 after working only 3 days at the FedEx Ground Package System Inc. 2560 Bertelkamp Lane Knoxville, TN 37931

FedEx refused to allow Greg’s family to speak to any of Greg’s co-workers or anyone else at the facility. FedEx also refused to let Greg’s family view any surveillance video of his last days alive.

Greg was a healthy 28 year-old. who thought his new FedEx job was an opportunity to get back in shape. In High School, Greg was a two-time Regional champion and went to States all four year. If you have ever watched wresters work out, you would know they give it all they’ve got, especially if they get in “the zone”.

Greg collapsed on the loading dock at the end of his third-shift on August 5th, 2020. FedEx refuses to allow the family members to know what really happened that day (who was working with him, what was said, or Greg last known words).

Is it unreasonable for the family to have this information? Do families deserve to know this information? Should this ever happen anyone again?

If you know of anyone who worked with or knew Greg, or saw him that day, Please contact Gregs “Mom” at:

May God continue to bless us.

A Prayer from Gregory’s mother

I thank you, God, for allowing Gregory and us. to know love and serve you, Lord!

I thank you, Jesus, for not letting me to watch as Greg suffered and died, as Your Blessed Mother did.

I thank You God, for every breath Greg took and every beat of his heart and every cell in his body.

Thank You , Lord, for all the music, art and videos that Greg left behind at “The Shurina Experience” and “Fat Kid Casanova”.

I thank You, God, for all the loved ones that reached out in our time of loss with food, gifts, prayers and Holy Masses for Gregory’s soul!

I thank You, Lord, for all of Greg’s friends and the love they have shown us. Please Please help us to be as loving and accepting as Greg was.

I thank You, Lord, for taking such good care of our family, bring us all closer together.

I thank You, Lord, for the beauty of Creation and Your love!

I thank You, God, that I can now say, thank You God for taxes, because they allow me precious time with my children. The last afternoon I spent with Greg, we did his taxes.

I thank You, Lord for all the time You have given us to love one another. Please help us to show our love in thought, words and deeds.

I thank You, Lord, for teaching me to love You and my fellow man.

I thank You, that we are healthy enough to enjoy another day.

I thank You, for helping me see the good in life, not always looking for what I lost, but happy for what I have.

I thank You, God, for giving me a grateful heart and for all Your blessings!

I believe, adore, trust and love You. I ask pardon for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not trust and do not love You!

Jesus, I trust in you!

Don’t think of him as gone away
his journey’s just begun,
life holds so many facets
this earth is only one.

Just think of him as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and years.

Think how he must be wishing
that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.

And think of him as living
in the hearts of those he touched…
for nothing loved is ever lost
and he was loved so much.

The following songs are singles that Greg’s mom gave me.

God hath not promised, sky always blue.
Flower-strewn pathways, all our lives through.
God hath not promised, sun without rain,
Joy without sorrow, peace without pain.
But God hath promised strength for a day,
Rest for the labor, light for the way,
Grace for the trials, help from above,
Unfailing sympathy underlying love.
